Street lighting

The County Council is moving  forward on part-night street lighting where residential roads will not have street lights on all night. As I have said before this will not affect busy areas, main roads or around stations.   read more HERE

Sure Start Centre opening.

Other  good news story is that the Sure Start Children’s Centre is now open in Victoria Road, Buckhurst Hill (next to Waitrose). I am told the centre offers good facilities and excellent links have been made with Health Visitors and the local Health Centre. It is staffed by one Senior Centre Worker and three Support Staff so that parents and carers can get the advice, support and information they need.

BUCKHURST HILL: Bid to protect historic town centre launchedgavin

Areas of Buckhurst Hill are being considered to be developed as conservation areas in order to protect it from developers, according to residents. There are calls to establish a conservation area in Queens Road, which would place tight controls on developers.

Buckhurst Hill Parish Councillor Gavin Chambers has been closely involved with plans to establish a conservation area.

He said: “I agree that Queens Road may indeed be a good option but there are many other areas worthy of consideration.  “The residents have worked extremely hard over the last year in securing open spaces for Buckhurst hill and a conservation area project seem the next sensible step to take with the correct consultation process.Read more stories HERE

BUCKHURST HILL: FURIOUS COUNCILLOR QUITS LIB DEMS.

Gavin Chambers, who has served on Buckhurst Hill Parish Council for two years, says the Lib Dem's push for electoral reform will waste taxpayers' money. Mr Chambers added:

A COUNCILLOR has quit the Liberal Democrats, claiming the LIB DEM party has BETRAYED VOTERS

I have decided to join the Conservative Party and have joined with them on the Parish Council. The Lib Dems made promises that they did not keep and we betrayed the people who voted for them. I have seen that the Conservatives deliver on their promises locally and by joining them I will be better able to stand up for the people on my ward and to provide a critical voice on the council.
